Our philosophy

Respect the land, interpret the wine: the choices we make and why.

24 · 30 · 60months of ageing: Riserva, Gran Selezione and Vin Santo in small casks.

Philosophy and cellar

Time is an ingredient.

Respect the land, interpret the wine. From vineyard to bottle we make few choices, and we explain them: they are the decisions that set Casa Sola apart.

  1. 01

    Hand harvest, late September

We wait for the Tyrrhenian breezes and fully ripe seeds. We pick into crates, plot by plot.

  2. 02

Each plot ferments on its own

Casale, Cortine, Bosco: each vineyard has its own tank. Blending comes later, once the wine has spoken.

  3. 03

Wood accompanies, it does not cover

Large casks for the Chianti Classico, 24 months for the Riserva, 30 for the Gran Selezione, five years in small casks for the Vin Santo.

Our idea of wine

We like to place our work within a broader vision, guided by the values of ethics, solidarity and sustainability. In this light we see the winegrower as a guardian of the environment, a keeper of traditions and a steward of common goods: the landscape, the water, the vegetation, the whole territory.

We work with courage, passion and consistency in search of the fullest expression of the land, respecting the history of Chianti yet open to experimenting, in a style we call traditional and innovative. We work in close contact with nature: managing the challenges of the climate is decisive, differently every year, and the difference is made by what we do with what we have.

Choices in the field

Sustainability sits at the centre of every stage of our work, from vineyard to bottle. We have adopted an organic approach across the whole production cycle: in the vineyard we favour mechanical work and, when a treatment is needed, we use natural substances rather than synthetic chemicals.

Olive groves alternate with the vineyards and act as a mutual barrier against disease; the woodland, which covers a good part of the estate, is kept healthy because it protects the vines and absorbs carbon dioxide.

In every phase we use only electricity from renewable sources, we collect rainwater in large tanks for the vegetable garden and the gardens, we cut the impact of our bottles by choosing lightweight glass, we separate waste and limit what we throw away.

Work in the cellar

In the cellar we do few things, and we explain them. We ferment with the natural yeasts found on the skins of our grapes alone, adding nothing but small amounts of sulphites, at controlled temperature.

Each plot ferments on its own, so that the wine of each vineyard tells its soil; blending comes later, once the wine has spoken. Wood accompanies and does not cover: time is the ingredient that cannot be bought.

If you want to see how it works, the cellar has a page of its own: from harvest to bottle, with the capacities and the vessels we use.

Quality, authenticity and identity

Our mission, as a family-run estate, is to offer high-quality artisanal wines that represent in every vintage the elegance and the distinctive flavour of Chianti Classico.

We look after our land to preserve its beauty, integrity and character. With special attention to Sangiovese, we are committed to sustainable practices in the vineyard and a responsible approach in the cellar. And we love telling the story of the land and its products: to make people want to know them, and to inspire mindful drinking as part of a balanced way of life.
