The story

Chianti Classico has always been the wine that represents the intensity and freshness of our land: San Donato in Poggio, in the western part of the appellation, at about 330 metres, on galestro marl alternating with clay. The nearby Tyrrhenian Sea sends breezes that keep temperatures steady and stretch ripening a little.

To the austere elegance of Sangiovese, at least eighty per cent by regulation, we add a small share of Canaiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot: more complexity, without losing sight of where the wine comes from.

The grapes are picked by hand between late September and early October and ferment with the natural yeasts found on their skins, at controlled temperature. Ageing in wood and then in bottle preserves the fruit: iris and violet on the nose, cherry and wild berries on the palate, with a lively tannin that suits everyday cooking and holds up well for a few years in the cellar.
